Job Title: Security Engineer III

Location: San Francisco, CA

Duration: 6 months W2 contract ( possible conversion)

Big cloud based company is seeking an accomplished Lead or Principal DevOps engineer to lead operations on their detection platform.

You're both accomplished and comfortable defining and operating an analytics platform on AWS. You have the experience and eagerness to balance reliability with leading-edge features. You thrive in the challenge of both aggressive scalability requirements and aggressive operations standards. You're happy supporting both software engineering (tuning, scaling, etc.) and applied research. You're driven, agile, highly-independent, and comfortable owning operations for a critical platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Stand-up, administer, and monitor Production, Staging, and Development analytics environments on AWS, including compute, storage, encryption, authentication/access, and more.

  • Implement, monitor, and maintain inbound and outbound data pipelines and secure transport.

  • Ensure up-time, latency, and platform integrity standards are met through both comprehensive monitoring and rapid response.

  • Implement and provide a point of control for access-controls

  • Implement, monitor, and maintain CI/CD frameworks.

  • Negotiate and implement platform security, integrity, and monitoring standards with other Salesforce operations resources.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 5+ years experience building, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining compute-intensive applications on Amazon AWS.

  • Ample experience specifically operating analytics environments leveraging Spark, EMR, HBase, Kafka, and others.

  • 4+ years experience operating and maintaining multi-TB/day data pipelines and data stores.

  • Demonstrable experience implementing and operating redundant AWS environments, including multi-region data redundancy and fail-over.

  • 4+ experience implementing CI/CD frameworks leveraging Jenkins, Git, and others.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Demonstrated experience defining and automating AWS environment operations via Terraform, AirFlow, or similar.

  • Experience deploying and operating graph compute frameworks including JanusDB, Gremlin Server

  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and championing operations standards with internal partners and vendors.
