Overview
We are sourcing for an immediate need for a Systems Engineer to support our mission critical work for our government customers. This Systems Engineer will join a small Engineering/Improvement & Modernization team focused on growing a new Big Data processing and analysis system into a major AF-wide enterprise solution. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the design, configuration, and deployment of critical services needed for enterprise IT at scale.

Location & Travel: This Systems Engineer position will be based in Nellis AFB, NV and may require some travel to additional sites (20%). Travel will be reimbursed based on GSA Per Diem rates and DoD Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).

Security Clearance: This Systems Engineering position must be a United States Citizen and hold a current Secret security clearance. Ability to obtain a TS/SCI eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end systems engineering services to customers
• Provide project duration/technical risk inputs and technical guidance to leadership
• Design, Install, and Configure IT-based Systems, SubSystems, and Components
• Develop installation, configuration, hardening and test documentation for new/updated system changes.
• Automate/script deployment, configuration, and O&M tasks.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot performance and/or configuration problems.
• Observe all technical and architectural standards as previously developed.
• Perform product analysis, research, comparison, and provide recommendations based on Total Cost of Ownership and technical capability.
• Build and maintain positive rapport and partnerships with peers and other relevant team members.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Design, install, and configure Data Center technologies in one (or more) of the following domains:
• Networking – Cisco Switches, Dell Switches, ForcePoint, Palo Alto
• Servers – Dell PowerEdge, Dell VxRail
• Storage – Dell EMC Isilon, Unity
• Operating Systems – Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Microsoft Windows Server
• Virtualization – VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, HorizonView (VDI)
• Containerization – Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, Tanzu
• Design, install, and configure Enterprise Services in several of the following domains:
• Authentication - Active Directory, DNS, LDAP, PKI, Certificate Authority
• Auditing – ArcSight, Syslog, LogInsight
• Monitoring/Dashboards – Zenoss, Elastic,
• Patch Management – SCCM, WSUS, YUM
• HelpDesk – Remedy, ServiceNow
• Vulnerability Management – ACAS, HBSS
• Database – Hadoop, SQL
• Automation – Ansible, PowerShell

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related Field OR Associates Degree + 2 years related experience
• DoD 8140 Certification (Security+ CE or higher)
• 5+ years of experience with the design/architecture, installation, and operations of hardware and software technologies listed above
• Ability to physically install and interconnect IT equipment in a customer datacenter
• Ability to design, install, and configure Data Center technologies in one (or more) domains mentioned under responsibilities
• Ability to design, install, and configure Enterprise Services in multiple domains mentioned under responsibilities
• Experience with AF IT system is desired
