Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pathology Management:

    • Lead regional pathology activities, including diagnostics, resistance breeding, and seed treatment methodologies.
    • Develop and enforce disease management protocols adapted to regional climates and conditions.
    • Swiftly address and manage disease outbreaks to minimize impact.
  • Team Leadership and Development:

    • Mentor and manage a team of pathologists and technical staff, promoting an environment of growth and innovation.
    • Implement training programs to enhance team capabilities and conduct performance assessments.
  • Research and Development:

    • Initiate and oversee research projects aimed at improving disease resistance and seed health.
    • Collaborate with breeding teams to incorporate disease resistance traits into new crop varieties.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Maintain effective communication with cross-departmental teams to align pathology efforts with overall organizational goals.
    • Represent the company at industry events and contribute to professional knowledge exchange.
  • Data Management and Reporting:

    • Ensure meticulous documentation of research findings and disease management efforts.
    • Analyze data to drive decisions and report on progress to senior management.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure all pathology practices adhere to relevant local, national, and international regulations.
    • Support laboratory accreditation and compliance to maintain industry standards.

Required Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • At least 10 years in Pathology Program Management, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Expertise in laboratory, greenhouse, and field plant pathology applications.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including strategic planning, team motivation, and effective conflict resolution.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage high workloads and meet strict deadlines under pressure.

Education Required:

  • Master's degree in Plant Pathology, Plant Science, or a related field.
  • PhD preferred.

Licenses/Degrees/Training:

  • Valid California State Driver’s License.
