Director of Product Management

An Exciting Opportunity:

We are seeking a Director of Product Management with a global mindset to shape and drive our organization’s product management strategy. A highly visible role and key member of our organization’s leadership team, this individual will be responsible for product life cycle management including assessing and prioritizing customer requirements, defining the organization’s product roadmap, spearheading pricing and positioning strategies, and collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Sourcing, Business Development, Operations, Regulatory and other internal stakeholders. An in-depth technical understanding of chemicals and life sciences is essential, since this individual will act as the strategic driver of more than 50,000 chemicals for use in numerous fast-growing market segments. This is a newly created role and great opportunity for an experienced product management professional with a proven track record in driving sales growth and profitability in a highly technical and scientific environment.

Job Duties:

• Direct product lifecycle for entire portfolio including pipeline, product line rationalization and product launches in all market segments.
• Conduct market research to identify unmet customer needs and anticipate future market demands for product strategy and roadmap
• Interact with customers, suppliers, partners and industry contacts to define requirements to bring new products to market or enhance existing features
• Optimize product development process from assessing market opportunity through VOC to ideation, product definition, forecasting and sales demand
• Establish global product positioning, pricing strategies and profitability goals by channel with complete P/L responsibility
• Develop sales forecasts and inventory management strategies with Operations, Sales and other internal stakeholders
• Build a high-performing product management team through new talent acquisition and coaching
• Act as subject matter expert throughout all levels of the organization including sales team, as well as with distribution partners, suppliers and customers
• Ensure company is sourcing, packaging, shipping and providing support to drive growth in target market segments
• Establish relevant KPIs and identify initiatives for improvement

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Biology or equivalent/applicable scientific field
• MBA or Master’s Degree preferred

Requirements:

• 7+ years in a product management role for a global organization, preferably focused on chemicals or scientific products
• Technical background in chemistry, biology or life sciences that demonstrate an awareness of scientific application
• Experience with Six Sigma, Lean and continuous improvement methodologies
• Ability to translate product knowledge to customer value in unique market segments
• Demonstrated strong analytical and decision-making skills including ability to develop and analyze key performance indicators to influence results
• Self-starter with project management and problem-solving skills with a bias for action
• Strong financial acumen and ROI orientation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Track record in leading cross-functional teams and driving change throughout an organization
