Job Title: Packing Supervisor

Reports To: Plant Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt/Salaried

 

Summary:

Responsible for overseeing the productivity of the packing department and its employees. Ensuring all tasks follow all applicable rules, regulations, disclosure, reporting and labeling requirements concerning the products and its content. 

Essential Duties & Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Plan out department workload on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure efficiency and productivity standards in the packing department are being met.

  • Work closely with partnering departments to resolve any inconsistencies and ensure the quality of our products through the entire value stream process. Communicate constantly with departments to ensure workflow is efficient and up to standard.

  • Resolve issues regarding non-conforming products by following the proper protocol set by SOPs.

  • Work with management and quality departments to update or revise SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) as needed to ensure employee safety and compliance of all regulations.

  • Update and sustain KPI workbooks through excel to monitor compliance, employee productivity and department performance. Continue development of KPIs and other metrics.

  • Work closely with HR to review, interview, hire and train employees or potential hires.

  • Onboard new hires by ensuring their understanding of SOP’s, cGMP. GDP and other trainings

    required to be successful in the packing department.

  • Coach and develop employees to ensure proper procedures are being followed.

  • Understanding of DOT regulations to ensure proper labeling of products being shipped out.

  • Knowledge of HMIS/GHS and other forms of chemical hazard identification.

  • Properly inspect and verify finished goods to ensure compliance of all rules and regulations.

Education:

  • Preferred educational background in chemistry, chemical engineering.

  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in a regulated environment at a supervisory level

  • Preferred background would include chemical packaging/repackaging, manufacturing, etc.


Experience:

  • Full understanding and ability to adhere to cGMP/GDP and other regulatory standards.
  • Prior experience in working in a regulated environment with 2-3 years of directly supervising a team.
  • Current or prior HAZWOPER is a plus.
  • Experience using ERP systems, Oracle preferred.
  • Must be familiar with batch records, safety data sheets and weight measurements.
