ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the sales process selling direct / raw materials into the biopharma market segment.
  • Work in the field managing sales opportunities in the agreed upon market, managing the sales process with direct end user customers and through distributors where applicable.
  • Build and man age active pipeline of sales opportunities from origination to close.
  • Prepare and give presentations to customers and distributor partners in support of the company's growth.
  • Territory Management: Travel is an essential function of the role by visiting current and potential customers; develop strategies and implement plans to grow profitable sales.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with multiple internal and external customers.
  • Achieve year over year annual sales growth and gross margin targets.
  • Experienced in selling to Director and VP level decision makers in industry.
  • Ability to increase depth and breadth of relationships within focused accounts.
  • Operate within expense budget guidelines and policies.
  • Develop new business in territory for new and existing customers.
  • Microsoft Office package/excellent PC skills.
  • Independent problem-solving/analytical skills.
  • Record of sales achievements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in regulated markets that have cGMP, ISO, and change control processes / oversight.
  • Ability to apply account development strategies from R&D to Process
  • Development to Production.
  • Perform other duties as required to fulfill business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in a technical discipline such as chemistry or biology and 5 or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical or life science industries. Previous sales experience working with either manufacturers or distributors selling chemicals, media, life science tools, excipients to life science focused markets. Ideally have a network of industry contacts to support growth goals.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Written and oral fluency in English.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from others. Strong experience creating and delivering high quality impactful presentations.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and understand profitability. Understanding of gross profit / gross margin calculations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to come to intelligent conclusions with incomplete information. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Excellent communication and people skills.

 

COMPUTER SOFTWARE:

Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite of programs with a strong focus on Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Oracle ERP preferred but not mandatory.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and listen clearly. The employee will need to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will need to be able to travel domestically by car, plane and train as the job demands. This includes the need to carry a computer and luggage for trips.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment will primarily be a combination of office and travel. The applicant can expect up to 66% of the time to be in the field working with customers on sales calls, trade shows and presentations. Overnight trips will be required.
