Network Engineer

We are sourcing for an immediate need for a Network Engineer to support our mission critical work for our government customers. The Network Engineer will perform moderately complex network designs using existing technology with limited guidance. They will also be responsible for planning network configurations for integration into the network, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being added to the network and the specifications for network interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance. They will be involved in preparing technical proposals for presentation to the engineering review boards to add new technologies to the network.

Responsibilities:

  • The Network Engineer shall perform moderately complex network designs using existing technology with limited guidance.
    • The Network Engineer shall plan network configurations for integration into the network, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being added to the network and the specifications for network interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance.
    • The Network Engineer shall prepare technical proposals for presentation to the engineering review boards to add new technologies to the network.
    • The Network Engineer shall perform moderately complex Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities with limited guidance.
    • The Network Engineer shall utilize network analysis tools to identify performance problems in the network.
    • The Network Engineer shall diagnose network issues.
    • The Network Engineer shall follow troubleshooting procedures for restoring the network to optimal performance levels.
    • The Network Engineer shall assist senior technical staff in preparing troubleshooting procedures for restoring the network to optimal performance levels.
    • The Network Engineer shall repair network issues as needed.
    • The Network Engineer shall perform routine to moderately complex network upgrades with limited guidance.
    • The Network Engineer shall review user requests for upgrades or additions to the network to assess the impact on network performance.
    • The Network Engineer shall provide advice and guidance on the most practical technical approach to meeting user requirements.
    • The Network Engineer shall plan upgrades to existing network configurations, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being upgraded and the specifications for network interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance.
    • The Network Engineer shall prepare technical proposals for presentation to the engineering review boards for upgrading existing technologies.

    • Requirements:
      Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen.

      Clearance - TS/SCI with an appropriate Polygraph

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline. Minimum of three years’ related experience. Associate degree can be considered with additional related work experience and certifications.
      • Masters and Higher educational degree and related years of experience preferred.
      • Combination of experience and education may be substituted to meet requirements.
      • Compensation - commensurate with qualifications and experience.

      • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

        • Demonstrated experience working with TCP IP protocol suite, IP subnets and masking, and routing protocols.
        • Demonstrated experience working in Local Area Network (LAN) environments
        • Demonstrated experience working in Wide Area Network (WAN) environments.
        • Demonstrated experience designing, configuring and troubleshooting Routing and Switching systems (Cisco and Juniper expertise required)
        • Demonstrated experience with Routing Protocols to include OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
        • Demonstrated experience with Gateway Redundancy Protocols to include HSRP and VRRP.
        • Demonstrated experience implementing L2 and L3 VPN across an MPLS network.
        • Demonstrated experience with network security such as firewalls and ACL’s.
        • Demonstrated experience working with Type 1 cryptographic equipment.
        • Demonstrated experience with ground-based satellite termination equipment.
        • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Visio for network topology creation and modification.
        • Demonstrated experience explaining protocols, technical procedures and processes clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences.
        • Demonstrated experience developing and preparing complex technical documents, reports and proposals.
        • Demonstrated experience leading working groups
        • Demonstrated experience working as part of a team to achieve technical program goals
