As a key member of the logistics team, you will be responsible for orchestrating truck transportation for both inbound and outbound shipments, utilizing a full truckload approach. Your goal will be to optimize delivery by selecting the best carriers based on cost, service quality, and availability. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining excellent communication with our carrier network and ensuring transparency of shipment information throughout its journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategically assign loads to carriers using our advanced web-based Transportation Management System.
- Schedule and confirm pickup times to align with customer expectations.
- Ensure timely pickup and delivery of all shipments, maintaining communication with customers and internal teams to meet dynamic needs.
- Generate daily shipment reports detailing volumes and addressing any shipment discrepancies.
- Skillfully negotiate spot rates and prepare rate confirmations.
- Conduct daily freight rate audits and actively participate in cross-functional teams to enhance service delivery.
- Manage carrier claims and oversee the collections process.
- Additional responsibilities as needed to support the logistics department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in dispatching
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems effectively and analyze data.
- Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment and working collaboratively with various teams.
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and urgency.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions:
- Effective decision-making and ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude under pressure.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physical requirements include prolonged periods of sitting, continual use of office equipment, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Valid driver's license required, with occasional travel by plane or automobile.
