Basic Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field required; specialized bank lending education/training.

Skill(s):

  • Proficient in English, reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills
  • Proficient interpersonal relations, communication, customer service, and sales skills
  • Proficient organizational skills
  • Proficient financial analysis and underwriting skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services
  • Thorough knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact bank services; proficient
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years related experience required.

General Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a loan portfolio that contributes to the growth and profitability of the Bank while maintaining asset quality
  • Achieving customer service goals as established in the Commercial
  • Lending Department's annual operating plan
  • Complying with operating policies and procedures established for the commercial services function
  • Communicating with appropriate personnel
  • Responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.

Essential Duties

  • Develops and maintains a loan portfolio that contributes to the growth and profitability of the Bank while maintaining asset quality as illustrated by the following:
  • Maintains individual loan portfolio in a satisfactory and acceptable manner in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
  • Manages portfolio maintenance including matured loans, delinquent loans, documentation, financial statements, and loan workout as necessary.
  • Monitors portfolio for weaknesses or potential downturns; reports any potential issues immediately to EVP Chief Lending Officer.
  • Manages client process including loan application, underwriting, approval, closing, and post-closing.
  • Provides quality customer service; ensures customer’s financial services needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Meets and communicates with present and prospective customers; maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers in order to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities.
  • Jointly establishes quantitative sales objectives, with assigned supervisor, on an annual basis
  • This activity to be integrated with the department's annual marketing/sales plan.
  • Makes outside calls and solicits new business from present and prospective customers.
  • Generates new deposits and loans for the Bank.
  • Provides direct service to commercial customers of the Bank with respect to deposit, loan, and other Bank products and services
  • Reviews customer financial information and analyzes credit worthiness; approves or rejects loan applications within individual lending authority.
  • Submits underwriting and supporting documentation in a timely manner.
  • Completes and provides timely reports as required; completes various forms as required and according to established procedures.
  • Supports HMDA data recording as necessary.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records of all customer service calls made and meetings held with present and prospective customers.
  • Provides sales information on a timely basis in order that this information may be included as part of customer service and sales performance reports.
  • Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives on a regular basis; discusses performance with appropriate supervisor on a frequent basis.
  • Serves as a member of the Bank's sales team; makes group sales calls where these types of calls will improve the opportunity for new business development.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all Bank products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs.
  • Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other Bank departments as necessary
  • Provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems.
  • Maintains current working knowledge of Bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal regulations and Know Your Customer principles.
  • Completes all required compliance testing in a timely manner.
  • Achieves customer service goals as established in the Commercial Lending Department's annual operating plan.
  • Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
  • Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.
  • Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other Bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
  • Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
  • Actively participates in business and community activities in a manner which reflects favorably on the Bank.
