Job Overview:

This role reports directly into the Accounting Manager and will play a key role in the company’s transition, enhancement and implementation of LEAN Accounting processes and systems. Key areas of focus will be on LEAN Accounting, internal controls, expense analysis, data mining, utilization of Business Intelligence reporting tool within the Accounting Department, risk mitigation and helping lead projects around continuous improvement and system improvements and implementations. Spectrum Chemical offers three tiers of Senior Accounting positions for near term advancement with additional opportunities for advancement into the areas of FP&A, Business Analytics and Accounting management promotional tracks.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, analyze and present account reconciliations with solutions for analyzed variances and recommended process improvements

  • Preparation and presentation of monthly financials including the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement with flex analysis of financial performance against budgeted and prior year targets

  • Ensure GAAP compliance in the areas of reporting, files and annual GAAP audits with an additional focus on internal controls and appropriate approval workflows and hierarchies

  • Promote and develop reporting tools using modern technology with end-users within the department

  • Streamline processes in areas of digital transformations, collections and monthly closing and reporting activities

  • Collaborate closely with applications and modern analytical tools with the Business Analytics department for full utilization of the company’s Azure Enterprise Data Warehouse for efficient and comprehensive analysis

  • Automate and improve current manual processes for data mining and daily transaction-based activities withing the Accounting Department

  • Key role in the annual GAAP audit process to ensure global financial reporting compliance

  • Key role in the justification of new project spending and CAPEX approvals

  • Assisting with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) budget process and quarterly forecasting processes

  • Responsible for performing special projects to improve process efficiency and performance


Qualifications:

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field required.

  • 4+ years of accounting experience.

  • ERP Experience preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of GAAP principles.

  • Effective Communication Skills (Written & Verbal)

  • Ability to analyze and synthesize business requirements

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and excellent organizational skills
