EHS Coordinator

The EHS Coordinator is responsible for supporting the mill with Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance. The EHS Coordinator works under the direction and supervision of the General Manager of the Virginia Operations. This individual will also function in a team environment to ensure EHS compliance and identify, prevent, and resolve potential EHS issues and to mitigate EHS liabilities associated with current operations

Essential Functions:

  • Support managers and supervisors in their understanding, adherence, and implementation of all federal and state EHS laws
  • Conducts EH inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Investigates and compiles reports on incidents which occurred during work operations including accidents, personal injuries, damage to property, hazardous material spills, etc.
  • Submit all required reporting monthly/quarterly/annual/bi-annual to local/state/federal regulatory agencies as needed
  • Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly, and monthly audits
  • Maintains accident and OSHA log databases. Assist with preparing and administering presentations for meetings and postings.
  • Conduct in-depth hands-on safety training to new hires and annual re-training which encompasses aspects of OSHA and Environmental standards, and compliance
  • Facilitates Safety Committee meetings guiding members to be proactive in their efforts to prevent work place injury and illness.
  • Assist in the investigation process for all accidents that occur using the company required reports including
  • Inspects facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, assists with determining corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure such measures have been implemented.
  • Keep certificates and records maintained in accordance to regulated standards.
  • Perform tests as needed to ensure compliance with permits and/or applicable regulations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Travel as needed between Kinsale, VA and Martinsville, VA
  • Experience with Title V air permitting and associated reporting
  • Experience with Industrial Stormwater management and SWPPP’s
  • Familiarity with DEQ reporting requirements and hazardous waste management best practices
  • 3-5 years’ hands-on experience in a manufacturing organization with emphasis on:
      • Safety training, inspections/audits, job safety analyses, accident investigations, & compliance training
      • In-depth knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal EHS rules and regulations
      • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet
      • Accurate typing/computer data entry with above average attention to detail
      • Effective time management and organizational skills
      • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple and varied tasks
