APPLICATIONS ENGINEER

Summary: Plans, designs, and coordinates integration of machinery and equipment into manufacturing process of industrial establishment by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leads technical interaction with the customer and develops and writes equipment specifications, performance requirements and develops cost analysis.
  • Enables customers to meet their thermal processing needs through consultative design processes and prepares detailed quotations.
  • Intimately involved in the generation of new product development execution, order processing support and customer presentations.
  • Provides technical leadership and expertise within the project design team to promote design creativity and cost effectiveness.
  • Determine accurate costs and ensure appropriate selling price and delivery schedule of products and prepare a quote for the customer.
  • Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in field.
  • Confers with workers in other departments, such as marketing, legal, and engineering, to provide technical information.
  • May help to coordinate presale demonstrations and trade show exhibitions including procurement of equipment, set-up, demonstration, and discussion with potential customers.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS), preferably in Mechanical Engineering, from four-year college or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training in the heat process industry, custom equipment. Heat treat furnace industry experience strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: MS Office software, manufacturing systems software, such as BPCS (AS400). Experience in AutoCAD is desirable.
