Pyrometry Technician

SUMMARY:

The Pyrometry Tech oversees all aspects of pyrometry including the essential duties and responsibilities as outlined below as well as supervises pyrometry personnel in their daily tasks. This position is responsible for performing instrumentation calibrations, repair/corrective maintenance of control systems, and instrumentation on all heating and cooling equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares Thermocouples (TC’s) and wire survey racks for Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS)
  • Locates and assembles baskets, racks and grids for TUS’s
  • Makes new fittings to mount thermocouples in furnaces
  • Downloads survey data from “data logger”
  • Masters “SDS Reporter” software
  • Creates survey reports using Microsoft Word
  • Masters SSI charting software
  • Calculates correction factors for TC’s and data loggers
  • Calculates correction factors for thermocouples and TC calibrators (Altek)
  • Prepares thermocouples for System Accuracy Tests (SAT’s)
  • Performs SAT’s
  • Operates SSI Survey Data Logger
  • Demonstrates understanding of all furnace controllers
  • Demonstrates fluency with AMS, BAC and DPS Pyrometry specs
  • Maintains calibration of pyrometry instrumentation
  • Maintains spares for furnace instrumentation (temperature controllers, furnace controllers, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel up to 50% (mostly regional, domestic)
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Technical degree or certification



Compensation: $55,000.00
