Supervisor - comm'l heat treat

Job Description:

The first shift supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our Tool and Die Department. The supervisor position receives training to successfully operate all equipment, enabling the supervisor to train other employees how to operate equipment such as:

  • Vacuum Furnaces,
  • Atmosphere Hardening and Carburizing, Furnaces,
  • Tempering Ovens,
  • Flame Hardening, and
  • Gas Nitride.

The supervisor will work closely with the plant manager and other supervisors to ensure production runs smoothly in each department. The shift supervisor ensures our operators and inspectors are set up for success and safety.  

Minimum Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent and proficiency in English language (reading and verbal). This position requires direct contact with ITAR compliant work – United States citizenship required.

Experience: 1 year of heat-treating experience minimum is preferred. 

Skills:

  • The supervisor position requires a working knowledge of PC-based computer platforms. Previous experience with lift truck operation is preferred.
  • Attention to detail: We run many very involved processes with parts that are easy to damage. Successful candidates must possess attention to detail.
  • Resilience: You must be able to be happy to go from one project or problem to another. The work that goes through the shop is different every day, and you must embrace flexibility to succeed in this position.
  • People Orientated: You must be a servant leader and work for your direct reports and peers to succeed.
  • Communication Skills: The organization cannot succeed if its supervisors are not wise enough to communicate priorities and issues between and during shifts. As a supervisor, you will be wise in this way.
  • Strong work ethic: You will get your hands dirty and be productive. If you are a hard worker, we will be happy to have you on our team.
  • Desire to learn: Heat Treating is a trade, and there are many things to know in this position. To succeed, you must come to work with energy and excitement for continual learning and the desire to develop into a master heat-treating craftsman.
