About the Role

IQ Clarity's client is seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer for a 6-month contract engagement to support a growing government technology program. This role is focused on ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant operations in AWS, with a strong emphasis on GovCloud, FedRAMP, and DevOps best practices.

You will help manage cloud infrastructure, monitor systems, enforce security and compliance requirements, and support the automation of infrastructure through modern DevOps tooling. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with AWS, a security-first mindset, and a deep understanding of SRE, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain AWS cloud environments, including GovCloud.

  • Ensure system uptime, reliability, and performance using SRE best practices.

  • Implement and enforce FedRAMP and GovCon compliance standards.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.

  • Monitor systems using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or Datadog.

  • Support containerized workloads with Kubernetes and ECS/EKS.

  • Collaborate with engineering, security, and compliance teams to align operational efforts.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in cloud operations, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering.

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (GovCloud experience highly preferred).

  • Deep understanding of FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and compliance in cloud environments.

  • Experience with infrastructure as code: Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.

  • Proficiency with monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch).

  • Experience with container orchestration: Kubernetes, EKS, or Docker.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control (e.g., GitHub, GitLab).

  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash).

  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder (must meet eligibility for government work).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in or supporting GovTech, DoD, or civilian agencies.

  • Knowledge of security incident response and cloud security best practices.

  • AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are a plus.

Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience
Remote Work: Fully remote, with flexibility
