Sensor Engineer (Contract)

Location: Remote or Hybrid

Seeking a Sensor Engineer to evaluate and deploy sensing technologies for infrastructure monitoring. This role focuses on testing sensor performance, validating assumptions, and guiding technical decisions for field deployment.

Responsibilities

• Define sensor requirements (accuracy, noise, durability, etc.)
• Support lab and field testing aligned to experimental goals
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors
• Evaluate IoT communication options (e.g., cellular, NB-IoT, LoRaWAN)
• Conduct performance and cost-benefit analysis
• Recommend sensors for field deployment and scaling decisions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Engineering or equivalent experience
• 7+ years with sensors, embedded systems, or IoT hardware
• Hands-on experience with sensor testing (lab and/or field)
• Knowledge of IoT communication tradeoffs
• Understanding of measurement error and signal detection
• Strong communication skills

Preferred

• Infrastructure or industrial experience
• R&D or pilot program experience
• Familiarity with statistical experimentation
• Experience working with data teams
