JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client has an immediate opening for a strategic individual who can discuss highly technical concepts to all audiences, ranging from non-technical decision makers to technical influencers and users. This person must be familiar with software-defined radios, radio systems, with networked systems knowledge a plus, and possess strong oral and written skills. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense and civil aviation communications services. Our client employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security and safety critical missions.

This individual is responsible for capturing new business opportunities, developing customer relationships, handling sales activities, which include prospecting, pre-sales promotion, proposal coordination, contract/sales order preparation, and closing net-new business within the business areas assigned. The position is responsible for exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets, including forecasting to the GD Business Managers for all assigned products.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Prepare sales forecasts and closes business in accordance with forecast and achieve assigned annual sales quota
  • Explore new sales tactics and go to market strategies
  • Leverage (if available) existing contacts within the DoT and DoD radio communities
  • Develop and initiate new contacts of potential customers
  • Coordinate visits of company personnel with customers for orientation, consultation, and training, to include foreign military engagements and international travel
  • Identify opportunities and resources required to accelerate business volumes
  • Make formal presentations and arrange product demonstrations at a customer site or GD facilities
  • Coordinate the involvement of appropriate support personnel (e.g., technical support, business management, solution architects, etc)
  • Consult with product and business development management on account issues, e.g. special pricing/discounting, territorial splits, and the need for additional sales/technical support.
  • Develop strategies, materials, and proposals
  • Manage a sales pipeline.
  • Represents the company at industry conferences and trade show events independently.
  • Works with the Business Development and Product Managers to develop and manage major accounts.
  • Thoroughly understand and significantly influence the customer’s decision-making process and lead the customer to positive decisions on sales proposals.
  • On an ongoing basis, provide information concerning competitive marketing/sales strategies.
  • Recommend product improvements, new products, etc. to meet needs.
  • Programs and Products Line of Business.
  • Provide input, assistance and recommendations to corporate on present and future marketing requirements including long range planning, strategies, objectives and the identification of market opportunities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft CRM or a similar system in support of funnel and forecast management.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales campaign plans and sales objectives for specific strategic programs or pursuits as well as targeted vertical markets.
  • Collaborate internally with the product team and Business Managers in executing these plans and coordinate market capture efforts and program strategies with respective business units or partners as necessary.

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Science Major or a related degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Sales Management and/or Sales Engineering experience in the Radio Communications Industry
  • Prevailing candidate will have experience delivering network technology products focused in the areas of RF –Radio (UHF/VHF/HF) Communications and related network infrastructure solutions
  • Previous RF radio experience is highly desirable
  • Experience with working in small teams ideal, entrepreneurial spirit is essential
  • Must be able to travel at least 50% of the time
  • Familiarity with Federal/DOD acquisition programs and government funding vehicles
  • Ability to obtain security clearance within 24 months
