Description

JCDS seeks an IT Operations Lead responsible for all activities relating to technical guidance for planning, directing, and monitoring information systems operations. The IT operations manager oversees and directs the day-to-day activities of our federal customer's information technology (IT) department, ensuring that systems, services, and infrastructure work reliably and securely. The IT Operations Manager will lead teams that design and implement networks and servers, respond to tier II user help desk requests, and monitor system stability and performance. The IT Operations manager provides guidance and leadership to the IT department and its technicians, but also directly supports end users by handling escalations, resolving user issues, and monitoring the performance of business-critical systems to prevent delays and outages and quickly resolve ongoing issues.

Additional Responsibilities

Plans and recommends machine modifications or additional equipment to increase the capacity of the system.

Prepares operational cost estimates for current and proposed projects.

Technical Skills

Proficient in Visio, MS Word and Excel

Proficient in Atlassian Jira, Confluence, SharePoint

Versed in ITIL Service Delivery Framework

Understanding of core enterprise IT services with extensive training on computer software and hardware, including servers and systems, to successfully lead IT departments

Strong written and verbal communicator, able to communicate with team members, management personnel, and end users throughout the organization

Ability to effectively manage IT personnel and set department priorities

Experience and Education 

7 years' minimum experience

Acted as an Operations Lead or Manager in a commercial or federal enterprise environment

Bachelor's of Science degree in Information Systems, Business Systems Management Information Systems, IT Management or other IT degree

Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

ITIL foundations preferred
