Windows Systems Engineer - Washington DC

JCDS is seeking a mid-level Windows Systems Engineer with AWS Cloud experience to join their growing team. The qualified applicant will become part of the infrastructure and operations team for a large federal agency in Washington DC.

**This position requires US Citizenship!**

Position Description:

  • The mid-level Systems Engineer will develop and integrate new systems and assist in the migration of applications, products to public cloud resources; provide technical recommendations of infrastructure solutions
  • Provides input on design, implementation, operations, user guides, and training materials. Performs support and training for engineering and operations staff as required
  • Implement plans to ensure optimum performance and reliability across the servers, networks, and related utilities that comprise the datacenter and cloud infrastructure
  • Support the design and maintenance of the enterprise-wide baseline of operating systems and software
  • Support enterprise hosting technologies to include Vmware and public cloud AWS
  • Collaborate in weekly meetings with Cloud engineering team, act and provide status updates on ongoing operational projects
  • Respond quickly and collaborate with team for all operational issues

Required Skills:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Experience supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure based on industry best practices and the AWS well architected framework
  • Experience with configuration management of Cloud based resources
  • Experience with VMware technologies: Vsphere, Vcenter, VUM management
  • Experience with Windows technologies: win2008 -2016, MSSQL server, WSUS, SCCM
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (Nagios)
  • SAN storage infrastructure experience
  • Solid understanding of standard client/server, networking, TCP/IP, and internet fundamentals
  • Experience in planning, installing, configuring, patching, and troubleshooting issues on the following platforms: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2.
  • Windows Server Build and Administration, Windows Active Directory management
  • Ability to write script in an Administrative Language (PowerShell, Pyton, Ruby, or Shell)
  • Ability to work and manage project independently
  • Ability to adapt and be productive in a dynamic environment
  • Strong writing/ verbal communication and collaboration skills supporting multiple stakeholders and business operations
  • Self-starter, self-managed, and a team player


  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Experience in Cloud migration, preferably in AWS
