J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Product Manager at a prominent NYC Data Discovery Technology firm.

Their Data Discovery platform compresses the complex data discovery to analysis workflow from countless hours to minutes, saving clients time, energy, and budget in harnessing data to reach their analysis and business goals, all in one comprehensive platform suitable for technical and non-technical professionals alike. Their platform help organizations across numerous sectors arm themselves with the data and data infrastructure to execute on their digital and data transformation initiatives, vital to long-term sustainability.

As a Product Manager at the firm, you will be responsible for building amazing, market differentiated products that users love. You know the immense value of user and potential user input, yet you understand that users may not be able to imagine or know how to ask for the future they are trying to invent.

We are looking for an extraordinary individual with unusually high levels of customer empathy, who intuitively puts the user at the center of their decision making. You will have knowledge of the data ecosystem and the data supply chain and understand the common goals and problems of users within this ecosystem. You will delight in solving customer problems and designing elegant user experiences that create a community of users who are advocates for your product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand current and potential client goals, needs, problems and workflows as they relate to consuming data through our enterprise portal product, and use these to drive product design and development
  • Develop target segments, user personas and story maps to help drive product definition, prioritization, and roadmaps
  • Assess the strengths and weaknesses of current and potential competitors and identify the opportunities and threats that these present
  • Develop business models and pricing strategies to maximize the revenue opportunities from the firm’s products
  • Develop product launch strategies and coordinate and support product marketing to maximize product uptake
  • Support sales as a product expert to reduce the cycle time
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize work and develop the product roadmap
  • Collaborate with training and support teams to maximize user adoption, stickiness and satisfaction

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

  • Product experience; 3+ years of experience in product management or similar role, preferably in a SaaS or data management business
  • Data expert: deep understanding of the ways that participants in the data supply chain get their work done
  • Highly empathetic; naturally views problems from the customer point of view
  • Openminded; seeks data to support decisions
  • Communicator: excellent written and verbal communications skills required with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Leader; Can define a vision and be an inspiring advocate for that vision
  • Influencer: Ability to facilitate meetings with diverse and sometimes conflicting points of view and the ability to influence and guide to decisions and finality
