J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Software Engineer for a Global Asset Management firm in Philadelphia.

A great opportunity for a strong Python – Object Oriented / AWS technologist with a desire to work within the investment environment for a global asset manager and enjoy seeing, firsthand, how their efforts contribute to the business.

Leveraging your strong software engineering, data engineering and cloud skills you work with modern technologies deploying microservices to the cloud.

Principal Responsibilities:

In this role, you will join a global team of technologists whose primary focus is on designing, developing, and delivering next generation platforms for their investment community. You will have the opportunity to directly partner with business stakeholders, understand their objectives/needs and deliver strategic solutions that enable them to focus on investment performance and deliver superior results.

You’ll contribute to their modern and collaborative engineering team using CI/CD, BDD, code quality and monitoring. You’ll build data & control pipelines across a variety of technologies (Python, JavaScript, and AWS) using event-driven messaging and APIs.

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

Relevant technical skills include:

• Proven engineering skills with the ability to work in Python using AWS to build data pipelines and microservices.
  • Strong proficiency as a Python Software Engineer
• Experience with AWS cloud-based development
• Strong data analysis skills – Experience with Big Data is a plus
  

Familiarity with modern software development and design concepts across multiple languages, as well as a passion for technology innovation will allow you to harness emerging technology trends to deliver solutions to their business in an efficient and agile manner.
