J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Dev Ops Engineer at a prominent NYC Global Investment Bank

Our client is looking for a DevOps Engineer is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer in either New York or Chicago who can provide business-facing support for Futures Trading and downstream platforms. The role requires an individual with initiative, learning agility, and a strong focus on continuous improvement, as well as delivering business value.

Principal Responsibilities

As a member of the Futures Technology team, you will be working directly with the business as well as developers and global operational teams in a follow-the-sun support model. This is a front-office facing role and experience in handling business stakeholders within a demanding environment is essential. You will also work on strategic regional and global projects taking on such roles as analyst, developer, tester, and release manager. Finally, you must be a self-starter, have learning agility, and comfortable working in a hybrid working environment.

The ideal candidate would have a background:

You’ll bring 1 to 5 years of experience and a selection of the following skills:

• Experience within the Financial Services industry, preferably with experience in Futures Trading and Execution platforms like Fidessa, TT, Bloomberg, and alike
• Excellent and wide-reaching technical skills enabling deep analysis and fast issue resolution
• Experience working with business customers and translating technology into business terms and vice versa
• Proven background in proactive identification of problems and implementing business process, data, application, or technology-related solutions
• Experience handling Incident and Problems to ensure healthy and stable Production environments.

• A degree in computer science (or another technical discipline) or comparable work experience is required
  

Ideally, along with:

• Experience of operating systems – proficient with UNIX and Windows environments
• Experience writing SQL queries and interacting with databases systems
• Capability to interpret Java, UNIX/Shell Script, Python and .Net languages for analysis is an advantage
• Good knowledge of ITIL & Agile tools and processes (e.g., Remedy, JIRA, Confluence)
• Incident management, problem management, and change management experience
• Good knowledge of health/alerting tools and tuning them to tighten environment controls
• Project management and software development delivery would be beneficial but not essential
• Knowledge of order management platforms, trading business, MiF

• Good team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others.
• Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; High sense of urgency.
