J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Project Manager / Program Delivery - Infrastructure Technologies at a prominent NYC Private Equity organization.

The Project Manager / Program Delivery - Infrastructure Technologies will be a significant contributor in enabling the firm’s vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses.

An exciting opportunity to join the firm’s Technology team responsible for setting the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of major projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.

Principal Responsibilities:

You will partner with global stakeholders to deliver a variety of projects across domains:

  • ‘Business Driven’ – driving the tech scope of material M&A activity and delivering new SaaS solutions that unlock business capability
  • ‘Cloud Consultancy’ – helping introduce new cloud-based solutions and migrating existing platform to cloud
  • ‘Core Infrastructure’ – refreshing network equipment, rightsizing data center footprints, and upgrading operating systems, hardware categories, or other ‘old to new’ transformations
  • ‘Corporate Real Estate’ – building new spaces and revitalizing existing ones

Your key responsibilities will include (“what we deliver”):

  • Planning:
    • Partner with stakeholders and sponsor to define project scope, goals and deliverables and to establish appropriate governance for project(s).
    • Define tasks and required resources.
    • Create project timeline and budget.
  • Implementation:
    • Manage overall project team execution.
    • Actively monitor project progress, including identification of key risks and issues.
    • Create and deliver Steering Group presentations concisely showing schedule and budget, risks / issues warranting escalation, and framing material decisions for consideration.
    • Manage change process:
      • Project execution - e.g., change order scoping, review, approval from sponsor and oversight of execution; and
      • User experience – e.g., judicious roll-out sequencing, communications, training and delivery of an end-to-end service (not simply a technical implementation).
  • Post-Implementation
    • Lead evaluation and assessment of project results.
    • Partner with broader project team to document and carry knowledge forward.

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

Required Experience:

  • Professional experience in project management managing increasing complex infrastructure related projects or programs in Financial Services
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and coordinating people and resources
  • Experience developing a strategy and implementing a program
  • Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and at or under budget
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of standardized project management tools and methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with both waterfall and agile project delivery methodologies
  • Proven experience in people management, strategic planning, risk management and change management
  • Proficiency with project management software
  • Ability to work in an open collaborative and highly charged environment.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, Agile team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain a close working relationship’s
  • Confident communicator
  • Enthusiasm for learning & results oriented
  • Strong desire to contribute and build a business – not just solve novel problems.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of clients and technologists to develop and implement technology in support of a dynamically growing Private Equity platform

Required Education:

  • Strong academic record and a BA/BS degree with high mathematical and computing content (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Financial Engineering)
