J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Fulltime Strategy Consultant / Leverager to the CEO to support the CEO/CIO across all of their business and investment activities so that managements impact on the organization and the value it derives from it is optimized. The Strategy Consultant / Leverager will research, scope, and manage projects on behalf of the CEO/CIO, collect, synthesize, and deliver information for the CEO, and otherwise supports the CEO’s daily activities. This is a new role for the firm that offers an opportunity to partner with an industry leader to have immediate and significant impact at a firm that is growing rapidly.

This position requires an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, analytical skills and strong communication skills are essential.

This individual will be a significant contributor in enabling the CEO’s vision and helping the organization to grow and improve its businesses. To be successful in this role you must be highly detail oriented and organized, able to meet assigned deadlines and have first class communication and interpersonal skills.


The firm is seeking an exceptional individual with a passion for getting things done. The successful Leverager to the CEO candidate will have a demonstrable track record of leading projects from the ideation phase all the way through to successful delivery and assessment of the results. They will be a skilled communicator, able to synthesize complex topics for a variety of audiences and deliver key messages in a clear and compelling way. They must be comfortable both holding people accountable and providing support and advocacy to help them achieve their goals. They will have the presence and polish to represent the firm to the outside world on behalf of the CEO/CIO and be personable enough to nurture and develop key relationships of the firm. Must be willing to get into the trenches with a wide variety of business subject matter experts and help solve problems.

The expectation is that this person will work on a very wide range of issues of interest to the CEO/CIO. The candidate must be a determined self-starter who is able to work independently, without direct reports, and is also comfortable getting work done through influence of a larger team. The candidate will work with all members of the investment firm’s team (CIO, investment, research, asset management, compliance, operations teams). Travel and work outside of regular business hours should be expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely information to senior leadership concerning the performance of the firm, summarized at an appropriate level, highlighting areas where CEO/CIO engagement is needed.
  • Manage projects from inception to conclusion on behalf of the CEO/CIO, providing research, analysis, data, planning, and execution support.
  • Provide tactical and strategic leadership as needed of projects that lack a natural home in the organization.
  • Support the CEO/CIO as needed to develop, nurture, and maintain key relationships with investors, strategic partners, other investment firms and portfolio companies.
  • Develop presentations and communications to the firm on behalf of senior leadership.
  • Ensure that the mission, vision, and values of the firm are properly developed and communicated throughout the organization.
  • Support strategic and operational planning in collaboration with firm leadership.
  • Ensure issues and priorities that require senior attention receive the appropriate attention and drive execution of senior management priorities.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of the governance structures of the firm e.g., executive team meetings, leadership offsites, periodic business reviews, board meetings etc.

Essential Skills/Background:

  • 3+ years relevant management consulting or leverager experience – financial services is a plus
