J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Database Administrator (DBA) – Data Operations Support at a prominent NYC Private Equity organization.

An exciting opportunity to join the firm’s Data Strategy & Analytics Technology team responsible for administration and operational support of the firm’s database server environment.

The Database Administrator (DBA) – Data Operations Support will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for administration and operational support of fund accounting application Investran and Treasury application Quantum
  • Secondary responsibility includes Database administration across all GA database servers and databases
  • Monitor and maintain health of all Financial Application Servers and Database Servers for capacity management, proactive monitoring, and proactive purging of data/logs
  • Performance tune databases through scheduled maintenance or ad-hoc indexing, updating statistics etc.
  • Provision and upgrade financial application servers, database servers, databases on private and public cloud, whether for structured or unstructured data.
  • Collaborate with team members to deploy all applications across data layer, integration layer and analytics layer and across 4 environments
  • Provide Level 2 support for all financial applications and data strategy applications in US time zone

Required Experience:

  • Technologist with a strong background in the architecture, design, and development of the Data Integration Layer using a service-based architecture
  • 4 years of experience in a data operations support role
  • Experience and competency with SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS and Azure data services, especially from administration and operations perspective
  • Proficient in implementation and administration of Investran or similar fund accounting system and exposure to any treasury systems like FIS Quantum, FX rates and Swift transaction maintenance is a plus
  • Working experience in administration of business intelligence tools like Tableau or integrations tools like Talend
  • Ability to work in an open collaborative and highly charged environment.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, Agile team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain a close working relationship’s
  • Confident communicator
  • Enthusiasm for learning & results oriented
  • Strong desire to contribute and build a business – not just solve novel problems.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of clients and technologists to develop and implement technology in support of a dynamically growing Private Equity platform

Required Education:

  • Strong academic record and a BA/BS degree with high mathematical and computing content (e.g. Computer Science or Engineering)
