J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Data Engineer – Integration Architect at a prominent NYC Private Equity organization.

An exciting opportunity to join the firm’s Technology team designing and developing the infrastructure for evaluating, ingesting, parsing, and processing structured and big data sets. The Data Engineer – Integration Architect will work closely with investment professionals to design, implement, and scale the organizations overall data architecture.

The Data Engineer – Integration Architect will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for architecture, design, and development of the Data Integration Layer as part of the firm’s overall Data Strategy
  • Research and implement tools in Data Integration space, especially using service-based architecture
  • Define standards, configurations, and operational/administration guidelines for integration layer
  • Develop ETL, ELT and other service-based integration jobs as part of overall Data application delivery
  • Build and maintain a repository of web endpoints for a centralized logical data service layer as part of forward-looking integration capabilities
  • Responsible for developing all control flow and data flow tasks using out of the box components or building new custom components, either in Talend or SSIS
  • Collaborate with team members in overall data application delivery
  • Provide Level 3 support for all data applications, especially for integration layer

The ideal candidate would have a background and a deep passion for working with data and developing software to address data engineering / integration challenges

Required Experience:

  • Technologist with a strong background in the architecture, design, and development of the Data Integration Layer using a service-based architecture
  • At least 6-8 years of experience working in the Finance industry
  • Experience and competency with design and development of data integration tools, especially Talend, SQL Server and SSIS
  • Exposure to any Enterprise Integration Platforms like SnapLogic, Mulesoft, Talend, Azure integration services or any similar platform
  • Working knowledge of any coding tool and their libraries like python, .Net or Java in building complex custom processing or calculation sub jobs
  • Expertise in designing and managing logging, Stack trace, messaging, notifications, and all operational standards around integration processes using Talend or SSIS
  • Ability to work in an open collaborative and highly charged environment.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, Agile team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain a close working relationship’s
  • Confident communicator
  • Enthusiasm for learning & results oriented
  • Strong desire to contribute and build a business – not just solve novel problems.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of clients and technologists to develop and implement technology in support of a dynamically growing Private Equity platform

Required Education:

  • Strong academic record and a BA/BS degree with high mathematical and computing content (e.g. Computer Science or Engineering)
