J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Data Engineer to join a global technology team that supports the investment platform of a Global Asset Manager in Philadelphia.

A great opportunity for a strong Data Engineer with a desire to work within the investment environment for a global asset manager and enjoy seeing, firsthand, how their efforts contribute to the business.

This hands-on strategic position provides the opportunity to deliver data solutions and will enable the engineer to contribute significantly to the success of the business globally. As a Data Engineer working alongside a diverse multi-talented team in a fast-paced agile environment you will be responsible for expanding and optimizing their data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection from cross functional teams.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Support the firm’s Global Salesforce capability and work closely with software developers, database architects, data analysts on data initiatives and will ensure that data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.
  • Uplift a new global Salesforce platform by supplying efficient data requirements, ensuring compliance to internal and external policies and standards, supporting feature team development, and providing innovative solutions to business needs.
  • Cloud Subject Matter Expertise providing a strong understanding and practical application of the most appropriate AWS tooling to utilize and support data movement.
  • Contribute to on-going development by collaborating with stakeholders of all levels.
  • Designing clean, efficient, robust and reliable solutions that deliver on requirements

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

  • Hands-on Programming experience in Python in a Cloud Environment (AWS Experience Preferred)
  • Strong understanding of data modelling and data architecture principles
  • Hands on experience authoring and configuring AWS data pipelines and building microservices and components for efficient data delivery across systems
  • Practical familiarity with microservices architecture concepts, including API gateways, security, scaling and resiliency, and operational monitoring
  • Experience working in a fast-paced agile delivery environment and managing work via JIRA or a similar tracking tool
  • Ability to manage user expectations and complete work requests within the stated or expected deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required Education:

  • Strong academic record and a BA/BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related educational background
