J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Investment Associate - Structured Finance and Investments at a prominent NYC Private Equity - Investment Manager.

An exciting opportunity to be a key part of the growth of the firm, funds and team and will work closely with senior members of the firm to evaluate and execute on investments within numerous asset classes and across the capital structure.

This individual will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses. To be successful in this role you must be highly detail oriented and organized, able to meet assigned deadlines and have first class communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial modeling and cashflow analysis for real asset portfolios
  • Managing the debt capital markets process for the fund’s investment strategies– including negotiating and executing financing transactions vis-a-vis revolving credit facilities, term loans, private placements, and issuances within the public capital markets
  • Coordinate closely with the investment execution process, risk management process and manage third party advisors, including lending relationships, servicing partners, rating agencies, accountants, etc.
  • Preparing internal materials, including Investment Memorandums and transaction analysis for presentation to Investment Committee
  • Monitoring and supporting the outstanding financing portfolios, including existing leverage facilities and overall leverage markets

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

  • Investment experience at an investment bank, investment firm, commercial bank, or rating agency
  • Structured Finance or Leverage Finance experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Ability to manage a process from start to finish with true ownership in areas that might be new to both the individual and even the firm
  • · Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • · Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • · Ability to take direction but also to be independent
  • · Willingness to take on what’s needed to support the team

Education:

  • Strong academic record and a bachelor’s or higher degree

The salary range is $80,000 - $130,000 plus employees may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location and applicable laws.
