Global Asset Manager (Philadelphia – New York)

J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Head of Equities Technology at a Global Asset Manager. We are seeking a senior, high caliber and highly motivated Investment Technology Professional with strong equities investment management knowledge and track record of successful delivery to join the growing team in center-city Philadelphia – This individual can be optionally located in their New York City or Philadelphia office.

An exciting opportunity to work with key business and technology stakeholders to drive strategic decisions across the entire equities’ asset management technology landscape. The Head of Equities Technology will define and deliver technology solutions to advance investment management lifecycle processes, including portfolio analysis / construction, order management and trade execution, pre-trade compliance, performance / attribution analysis, portfolio risk analysis, cash management and quant research.

The Head of Equities Technology will be responsible for defining the future-state investment technical environment for the Global Asset organization and be responsible for facilitating the conversion of strategies to actions and identifying ways to optimize technology capabilities and performance to support the global asset management platform.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Define and deliver technology solutions to advance equities investment management lifecycle processes, including portfolio analysis / construction, order management and trade execution, pre-trade compliance, performance / attribution analysis, portfolio risk analysis, cash management and quant research.
• Develop senior stakeholder relationships with investment teams to gain and utilize a deep understanding of the firm’s investment business flows and how the business wins to increase productivity by transforming current business models with innovative technology.
• Become a valued partner with business stakeholders by anticipating and proposing alternative solutions to help business extend their reach.
• Manage and lead a global DevOps team to provide end-to-end design, delivery and operation of applications and solutions.
• Develop and manage platform priorities, budget and resourcing requirements.
• Champion technology excellence, practice and innovative technologies to automate, simplify and innovate the technology landscape.
• Manage the platform in line with the bank’s policies and architecture standards to ensure technology risks are understood, communicated, and effectively mitigated.

• Developing continuous delivery capabilities by utilizing DevOps to optimize time to market.

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

• Significant demonstrated hands-on experience managing and developing technology solutions to multiple internal clients
• Track record on driving digitalization, automation, and data adoption with business partners
• Extensive domain knowledge and experience in equities / Multi-Asset asset management capabilities
• Entrepreneurial, highly motivated, and self-directed with a strong delivery mindset.
• Able Articulate complex technical problems and their solutions simply to all levels of stakeholders.
• Creating and leading, high-performing delivery teams and proposing and achieving successful outcomes for an asset management business.
• Adept at engaging, collaborating and influencing people at all levels and areas of financial services organizations
• Experience in program and delivery management, including budgets and forecasts.
• Proven ability to collaborate across global teams, managing time zones effectively.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
