J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Software Engineer at a prominent NYC Hedge Fund. An individual that can build scalable and creative application solutions providing the firm with a distinct commercial advantage that will enable a host of opportunities that will differentiate the firm from their competitors. A seasoned and professional computer scientist with extensive technical experience in developing application technologies.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement statistical models that drive computerized trading strategies.
  • Design and build distributed systems to process and react to high-volume, real-time data streams.
  • Develop tools and infrastructure to support advanced mathematical modeling and large-scale data analysis.
  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and business teams to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions.

The ideal candidate would have a background:

  • A Computer Science “Rock Star” - A strong computer science and/or quantitative background
  • Programming skills required - proficiency with one or more object-oriented programming languages
  • Ability to craft creative (and practical!) solutions to problems and express those solutions in code.
  • Intellectual curiosity and flexibility. We are always learning and seeking out new ideas.
  • Strong desire to contribute and build a business – not just solve novel problems.

SALARY RANGE: The expected annual base salary for this position is $225,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable laws. Their compensation and benefits package include;

  • Variable Compensation: Substantial year-end bonus (guaranteed in first year).
  • Additional Incentives: Sign-on bonus and relocation bonus.
