An exciting opportunity to build scalable and creative financial engineering capabilities that support the investment process and help manage risk & capital.

The Quant Dev will work closely with the trading desk, portfolio managers and risk managers to ensure they have the data and tools needed to make investment decisions and build new tools to unlock opportunities and automate the execution of trade ideas. Building scalable, creative solutions to problems involving their investment process is their mandate. Members of their technical staff collaborate on challenging problems that directly impact the firm’s continued success, utilizing their strong analytical, mathematical, and software design skills as well as some of the most advanced computing resources in the world.

Principal Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities may include formulating statistical models for their computerized trading strategies, developing distributed systems to analyze and react to incoming data in real time, and creating tools for advanced mathematical modeling.

The ideal candidate would have a background including (We welcome outstanding candidates at all experience levels):

  • Successful quant developer candidates have traditionally been exceptionally talented students at the top of their respective Computer Science, engineering, statistics, math, physics, financial engineering programs; a considerable number have also competed successfully in the United States and International Math Olympiads/Competitions.
  • An Advance degree in Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science - Successful quant developers have traditionally been the top students in their programs and have extensive software development experience.
  • Established track record developing software and applications, including experience in quantitative/modeling environments (e.g. Matlab, Splus, R, Python) and SQL databases
  • An individual who is a rock star in at least one of the following areas, Computer Science, Mathematics or Finance
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more memory managed languages required such as; C#, Java, Python, F#, Scala, Haskel, ADA, Smalltalk, Prologue, etc., including C++.
  • Ability to craft creative and practical solutions to problems and express those solutions in code.
  • Candidates should be innovative and analytical thinkers with strong communication skills, and they should demonstrate proficiency with the numerical and statistical tools needed to develop robust signals from market data.
  • Ability to work in an open collaborative and highly charged investment environment.
  • Must be an entrepreneurial, self-motivated, open-minded, conceptual, intelligent, bright individual who is intellectually honest & open to debate with excellent synthesis abilities.
  • Strong desire to contribute and build a business – not just solve novel problems.
