J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst at a prominent NYC Private Equity - Investment Manager.

An exciting opportunity reporting directly to the CFO of this fast growing and dynamic investment organization that is experiencing exceptional growth! The FP&A Analyst will be responsible for leading the budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and business strategic analyses for the firm including conducting financial analysis, modeling, forecasting and reporting efforts to ensure efficient financial operations

This position requires an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, analytical skills and strong communication skills are essential.

This individual will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses. To be successful in this role you must be highly detail oriented and organized, able to meet assigned deadlines and have first class communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and business strategic analyses
  • Conduct financial analysis, modeling, forecasting, and reporting efforts to ensure efficient financial operations
  • Reviews analysis results, develop insightful suggestions for investment, sourcing, cost reduction and strategic business decisions
  • Develop budgets/forecasts/policies/procedures
  • Work closely with cross functional colleagues to educate and provide financial support
  • Analyze financial statements and metrics
  • Report trends and observations
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting as requested

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

  • 3-5+ years of Accounting or relevant Finance experience
  • Background in FP&A
  • Thorough understanding of advanced financial analysis techniques using spreadsheet software, as well as any specialized financial forecasting software
  • Ability to design reports that present both actual and budget data in a concise manner for use by top management in decision making.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and in written
  • Strong work ethic, “self-starter” attitude
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel


  • Strong academic record and a bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
