J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Software Engineer – Portfolio Accounting / Partnership Accounting at a prominent Private Equity firm in their Greenwich CT office with consideration to work out of their NYC Headquarters.

The Software Engineer will be a key IT stakeholder as it relates to maintaining and developing enhancements to all finance and accounting related business financial systems including the firm’s Investran fund accounting system.

You will work with smart, talented people across their business to create groundbreaking, next-generation applications.

This is a “hands-on” full development lifecycle role that provides an opportunity to solve complex business, data and technical challenges. As a key contributor throughout the entire development cycle, you will be required to think outside the box and bring cutting edge technology in-house.


  • Partner in the firm’s Investment Finance IT Transformation program - collaborate on solution design, co-develop applications with 3rd party vendors and own/maintain all development efforts.
  • Manage the development of key Partnership Accounting and Reporting technologies within the areas of Operations, Valuations and Financial Reporting - develop impactful business solutions utilizing a variety of technical platforms / development languages.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to all team members and stakeholders, including business representatives, technology partners and consultants.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members.

The ideal candidate would have a background:

  • Experience in .Net, C#, VBA and SQL Server Technologies including SSRS and SSIS
  • Financial Services experience within the private equity community and a comprehensive understanding of complexities of private equity fund administration and operations.
  • Technical knowledge of Portfolio Management / Partnership Accounting related systems (e.g., Investran CRM, Accounting, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of relational database (SQL Server) design and development (SQL, Stored Procedures, Data Modeling) including a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design

Required Education:

  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Math with a background in Computer Science / Engineering, Mathematical or related educational background
