J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Algorithmic Trading Developer at a global investment bank to join a talented global technology team focused on high quality and consistent delivery to support the firm in meeting their business objectives.

A passionate technologist who can build scalable and creative algorithmic trading solutions – applications, frameworks, strategies, that support the investment process. The Algo Trading Developer will be constantly interacting with the trading desk and portfolio managers to ensure they have the data and tools needed to make investment decisions and build new tools to unlock opportunities and automate the execution of trade ideas. Building scalable, creative solutions to problems involving their investment process is their mandate. The firm views Technology as a distinct competitive advantage - enabling a host of opportunities that differentiate them from their competitors.

The Algo Trading Developer will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their Algorithmic / Electronic Trading business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Part of the Global Algorithmic Development team with focus on US Equities.
• Develop a deep understanding of the existing Algos in use
• Maintain and enhance existing Algo Framework to cater for new demands from the US business
• Work closely with the US electronic business / compliance to formalize new requirements into projects.
• Delivery focused, innovative in defining solutions and implementing them to completion

Day to Day Duties:

• Algo Development (C# or Java) includes framework development where required
• Analytical skills to work together with Quants to understand new models to be used in Algos
• Work independently on projects and see them through production.
• Involve other teams (QA/Compliance/Middle Office/Support/) as and when required
• Provide Level 2 support for production systems
  

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

• C# or Java server-side development experience preferably with experience in trading systems or front office related development
• Agile methodology
• Experience with lively, organic, highly collaborative environments
