J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Senior Software Engineer for a Global Asset Management firm in Philadelphia.

Work directly with their business and learn about the financial services industry as you deliver technology solutions for our global asset management business.

Principal Responsibilities:

As a Software Developer, you will deliver software solutions which empower their people and clients to innovate and invest for a better future. Collaborating with colleagues across the globe, you’ll work with a variety of modern technologies all built on their cloud-based infrastructure.

  • Participate in the software development process from start to finish and see the impact of your solutions as they bring opportunities to life.
  • Be involved from understanding the opportunity and the business case, through to prototyping requirements and delivering the final solution.
  • Design, make technology decisions, ensure security by design, code, document, test performance, and provide support. There is no aspect that you won’t be involved with.
  • Contribute to our modern and collaborative engineering team using CI/CD, BDD, code quality and monitoring.
  • Build data & control pipelines across a variety of technologies (Python, JavaScript and AWS) using event-driven messaging and APIs.
  • Research, evaluate and present recommendations for innovative technologies and frameworks.
  • Directly partner with these business stakeholders, understand their objectives/needs and deliver strategic solutions that enable them to focus on portfolio performance and deliver superior results.

    The ideal candidate would have a background including:

  • Proven engineering skills with the ability to work in Python using AWS to build data pipelines and microservices.
  • Working knowledge of relational database with SQL and/or non-relation database
  • Understanding of Design Patterns, Testing methodologies and overall SDLC.
  • Comfortable proposing designs, gather feedback from others, build solutions with reusability in mind and documenting / explaining how the solution works.
  • Comprehension of security, including authentication and authorization.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Shell Scripting, load balancing and basic networking.
  • Building solutions considering user experience, automation, security, performance, resilience, cost, scale, and reusability

It would be additionally helpful if you have any of the following skills or experience:

  • Airflow, containers / Kubernetes, GitOps / ArgoCD and Vault.
  • Data Lake, Data Warehouse

Familiarity with modern software development and design concepts across multiple languages, as well as a passion for technology innovation will allow you to harness emerging technology trends to deliver solutions to their business in an efficient and agile manner.
