Calibrate has been retained by an Am Law 100 firm to recruit a Director of Corporate Practice to be based in the firm’s New York office. The Director will support and serve as a chief-of-staff to the Global Chair of the Corporate Department. In close collaboration with key partners, firm leadership, and other practice group management team members across the firm, the Director will develop and implement plans to drive strategic and operational excellence for the Corporate Department, while ensuring those plans align with the strategic objectives of the firm as a whole.
Key responsibilities include:
Utilizing market, industry, and client data to create and drive strategic initiatives for the Corporate Department
Acting as a Department liaison to internal stakeholders and facilitating cross-practice communications
Supporting staffing, workflow, and professional development initiatives and serving as a resource to the Practice Management team
Establishing policies and procedures within the Corporate Department
The ideal candidate will be a highly effective communicator with demonstrated strengths in strategic planning, building relationships and establishing trust, and working collaboratively with others on the team and across the firm. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a successful track record of supporting high-performing teams by: (1) possessing a deep understanding of the Corporate practice landscape; (2) exuding a natural curiosity that will lend itself to keeping the Corporate Department at the forefront of “what’s next” in the marketplace; (3) leveraging relationships and effective processes to achieve results; and (4) maintaining an innovative and client-focused mindset.
To be considered for the position, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree. A JD or graduate degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., business administration, organizational development, human resources) is preferred. Candidates must have over 8 years of relevant experience as an experienced manager or director within a professional services industry, preferably a large law firm. Industry experience with Corporate Practice is preferred.
