Driver – Bin Collections 

Job Overview:

Responsible for the collection of items from locations with Clothing Collection

Containers. Maintain clean and secured and safe bin locations, warehouse & Truck.

Reports to:

Warehouse Operations Supervisor/s, Manager/s and General Manager.

Key Relationships:

Internal: All employees in warehouse and other truck drivers.

External: Location Owners, Managers and associates.

 

Qualifications: 

1. Ability to communicate with employer, employees and location personnel.

2. Good knowledge of the NJ, PA, NY area.

3. Able to lift 75 pounds.

4. Able to transport wheeled bins weighing approximately 500 pounds.

5. Able to constantly bend up and down.

6. Able learn to operate bale machine

7. Ability to read English.

8. Ability to read a map.

9. Valid Driver’s License.

10. Valid DOT Medical Card

 

Job Functions:

1. Driver

a. Drive Assigned route, Special Pick ups and/or other assignments by Supervisor.

b. Secure Keys for Assigned Vehicle.

c. Check and Maintain appropriate fuel supply for assigned vehicle.

d. Be aware of all gauges, tire pressure, lights etc. on vehicle and report any deficiencies to supervisor.

e. Drive alert and safely following all laws.

f. When necessary purchase needed items to maintain the vehicles functionality and adhering to DMV criteria.

g. Keep vehicle safe and secure.

h. Use of truck for personal is not allowed.

i. Return truck to warehouse locked and secured in appropriate parking area.

j. Communicate any issues or concerns to supervisor.

2. Bin Collections

a. Secure appropriate assigned route work sheet (clipboard).

b. Ensure and secure appropriate keys for assigned route.

c. Bag and Collect all items from assigned locations on route.

d. When applicable separate clothing from toys, households and books.

e. There is to be no sifting through items for personal needs.

f. Taking any items for personal is not allowed.

g. Segregate trash for proper disposal.

h. Ensure location is clean, clear of debris, secure and safe.

i. Remove snow and salt areas when applicable.

j. Lock all Donation Bins.

k. Load all items on to truck for transport.

l. Communicate any issues or concerns to supervisor.

3. Unloading collections

a. Segregate all clothing, households, toys, books and trash appropriately into separate containers.

b. Weigh in all clothing items and log appropriately on Daily Truck Report Sheet.

c. Manage Trash Appropriately

i. Large items deemed to be trashed to be stored outside by Trash Container.

ii. All other Trash to be loaded into plastic utility bins for

compacting.

d. There is to be no sifting through items for personal needs.

e. Taking any items for personal is not allowed.

f. Store all clothing, toys, household, books and trash bins appropriately in warehouse.

g. Communicate any issue or concerns to supervisor.

4. Bale Machine - Clothing Bales

a. Be alert and operate safely.

b. Segregate all clothing, households, toys, books & trash.

c. There is to be no sifting through items for personal needs.

d. Taking any items for personal is not allowed.

e. Store Bales appropriately in assigned area.

f. Communicate any issue or concerns to supervisor.

g. Maye 900 – 10000lb bales

5. Cap Sacks

a. Segregate all clothing, households, toys, books & trash.

b. There is to be no sifting through items for personal needs.

c. Taking any items for personal is not allowed.

d. Store Bales appropriately in assigned area.

e. Communicate any issue or concerns to supervisor.

f. Make 400-500lb cab sacks

6. Household & Toys

a. Segregate all clothing, households, toys, books and trash appropriately.

b. Create boxes of household items and combine with loose items on pallets.

c. Wrap pallets with stretch-film.

d. Weigh Pallets and label accordingly.

e. There is to be no sifting through items for personal needs.

f. Taking any items for personal is not allowed.

g. Store Pallets appropriately in assigned area. 

h. Communicate any issue or concerns to supervisor

7. Warehouse

a. Ensure Warehouse is always clean, clear of debris and spills.

b. Ensure Warehouse, all doors and rolling gates are locked and secured.

c. All lighting is on/off appropriately.

d. General Warehouse maintenance and repairs.

e. Collection Bin painting and repairs

f. Visitors and non-employees not authorized are prohibited from being in the warehouse.

g. Communicate any issue or concerns to supervisor.

8. Load or Unload Shipments

a. As assigned, Load or unload items appropriately to designated areas.

b. Communicate any issue or concerns to supervisor.

9. Report Hours worked

a. Punch in at time clock; daily and appropriately.

b. Communicate any issue or concerns to supervisor.

10. Operate Forklift (only if trained and authorized)

a. Be alert and operate safely.

b. Be aware of propane supply for forklift and advise supervisor when supply is low.

c. Communicate any issue or concerns to supervisor.

d. Complete Forklift Operational Training Program

+ Full-time position with guaranteed 40 hours of work/week.

+ Pay is $13-$15/hr base, but each person has potential for OT and earn commissions. Real end of year wages averages between $15/hr-$19/hr ($31,200-$39,520/yr).

+ Tuition Reimbursement - Employer will pay for education, training and certification classes (i.e. Associates Degree, Forklift training, CDL license, etc)
