Summary/Objective: The Foreman directs and supervises a crew of skilled trade and labor and is responsible for the daily and weekly planning and scheduling of work activities to complete projects on time, within budget, and with high quality workmanship. The Foreman ensures safe working conditions and compliance with all safe operating procedures.

  • Supervises a crew of employees and subcontractors and prioritizes work.
  • Reads, understands, and follows plans, material lists and guidelines.
  • Monitors and reports the progress of projects, keeping projects on track from both a time and budgetary perspective
  • Conducts regular toolbox safety meetings.
  • Fulfills all regular and advanced installation/construction duties, including project layout, and completes required paperwork (e.g. Daily Project Journal) in a timely manner.
  • Organizes, supervises, leads and trains employees to complete tasks within established guidelines and time frames.
  • Participates in recruiting, hiring, training, and employee management in order to ensure workers are qualified and knowledgeable about their roles and makes assignments according to skill sets.
  • Enforces all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Enforces all client-required safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and safety requirements, including crewmember discipline and documentation.
  • Submits crewmembers’ timesheets in the applicable systems and in accordance with company process to payroll by deadline.

Supervisory Responsibility: The position directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees with oversight and support from HR and Management; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to loud noises, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is often performed in outside weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be capable of lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee will occasionally be required to wear a respirator, for which he/she will have to be medically fit tested. The employee will occasionally be required to wear a harness and work at heights.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime, evening, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand, specifically as it relates to planning and coordinating employees, materials, and equipment.

Travel: Travel for this position is expected to be minimal, and is estimated to be 10-15%. Travel outside the Greater Metropolitan Area would be for Company-wide management meetings, training, or opportunities for Business Development.

Daily travel to various project sites in the Greater Metropolitan Area should be expected. The employee is required to have reliable transportation to the various projects to which they are assigned.

Required Education and Experience: High school education. 5-10 years of demonstrated experience in residential/commercial construction. Demonstrated experience in a supervisory position. Demonstrated experience successfully managing client relationships and client communications. Related experience or training.

Preferred Education and Experience: Demonstrated experience in a supervisory position on high value custom, residential projects.
