Communications and Marketing Director

Kelaca, in partnership with the Occoneechee Council, BSA, is seeking a Communications and Marketing Director to join the team in Raleigh, NC. The Occoneechee Council is dedicated to growing and strengthening the impact of Scouting throughout their twelve-county service area.

Role Overview: As the Communications and Marketing Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the communication efforts. Reporting to the Scout Executive/CEO, you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy aimed at both internal and external stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the creation of collateral, managing communication channels, monitoring analytics, and providing statistical analysis to the communications committee, Board of Directors, and senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

Communications

  • Develop and implement Occoneechee Council’s comprehensive communications plan for internal and external audiences.
  • Engage staff and volunteers to strengthen communication at every level of the organization.
  • Provide oversight and review of major communications initiatives.
  • Monitor communications sources and trends to position the organization ahead of other major youth nonprofit organizations.
  • Create and monitor the analytics of major communications and present statistical analysis to key stakeholders.
  • Communicate with local media outlets and drive messaging and awareness.

Marketing

  • Create collateral that unifies branding and messaging and amplifies the organization's good work. Regularly report on the progress of the overall marketing program.

  • Create templates that can be used by staff and volunteers to drive growth in membership including flyers, social media templates, Photofy collateral, and newsletters.

Other

  • Serve as a committee liaison to the communications and marketing committee.
  • Work with the Occoneechee Council Development team.
  • Take on other duties as assigned by the CEO

Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional experience with demonstrated success in a marketing/communications function.
  • Non-profit organization experience preferred
  • Tangible experience expanding and cultivating existing relationships over time.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with a flexible and adaptable leadership style.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player, managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • High energy and passion for Scouting’s mission.
  • Focus on customer service, volunteer engagement, and a positive attitude.

The Occoneechee Council, BSA is a North Carolina 501c3 non-profit youth development organization chartered by the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training. Scouting’s mission is to:

  • Offer young people responsible fun and adventure;
  • Instill in young people lifetime values and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law;
  • Train young people in citizenship, service, and leadership;
  • Serve America's communities and families with its quality, values-based program

Our Council is responsible for bringing the Scouting program to over 8,000 young people through 3,500 registered volunteers in over 300 Cub Scout Packs, Scouts BSA Troops and Venturing crews throughout our 12-county service area.
