We are hiring experienced and enthusiastic Cloud/Security Specialists to join our client’s growing team. As our new Cloud/Security Specialist, you will be responsible for building the foundation of our cloud infrastructure. This involves standing up our new platform as the first instance in the cloud, as well as the continuous cloud integration and continuous deployment / migration of our existing lending and insurance platforms. This role works in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and works with cross-functional teams (Dev, DevOps, QA, and IT). These are contract roles based in Toronto, Ontario.

Duties and Responsibilities

To successfully execute this role, the Cloud/Security Specialist should be able to lead the following key responsibilities:

  • To Provide security architecture support for build, migration and operation of Azure cloud infrastructure

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee enforcement of policies, procedures, and associated plans for system security administration and user system access based on industry-standard best practices.

  • Be the cloud security subject matter expert for our Enterprise IT and Business IT teams in any IaaS/ PaaS and SaaS implementations.

  • Serve as the primary interface to IT communities to ensure the cloud solution consistently meets the security requirement; participate in designing and managing cloud security strategy and support projects with a focus on security and compliance.

  • Actively participate in design & build IT projects, steering cloud configurations and services toward best practice security with domain expertise in Cloud technology.

  • Lead assessment of cloud implementations, identify security issues and prioritize fixes

  • Design and implement new cloud security tools/solutions within DevOps/SecOps processes to ensure the solvency of cloud computing resources.

  • Understand cloud security vulnerabilities and associated threats, and assess the overall security risks to a cloud solution, provide mitigation recommendations to reduce identified security risks.

  • Researches and evaluate emerging cloud technologies and proactively recommend areas where they can bring business value.

  • Develop aspects of the cloud migration initiative, including its impact on infrastructure, networks and security.

  • Define standards and best practices by conducting POCs for new cloud technologies leveraged by the development organization and engineering teams

  • Develop baseline for deliverables to include; Network access, Restriction of internet facing resources within cloud platform, provision and configure computer resources within Azure environment

  • Provide expertise and serve as Subject Matter Expert regarding Cloud for both infrastructure and applications in Microsoft Azure

  • Work with application teams with their digital Transformation goals and achieve exceptional results retaining maximum client satisfaction

  • Work with the IT Security Team, Solution Architects and Cloud Operations Team with any security-related issues that arise and maintain a log of operational activities performed

  • Develop, maintain and drive a culture of continuous enhancement for a robust knowledge management system for the Cloud Operations team and its partners

  • Establish a continuous improvement plan for Cloud Operations, including technology reviews, root cause analysis, action reports analysis and cloud portfolio review in order to ensure adequate infrastructure to provide suitable operating environment(s) for critical applications.

  • Web and API development, with programming and scripting experience a plus;

  • Create Proof of Concepts (POC), wireframes, and prototypes that illustrate current and future workflows and product design

Qualifications / Skills and Experience

  • 5 years of experience in Azure Cloud

  • Azure Certification (Required)

  • In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Azure

  • Experience in setting up enterprise level account structure and security models in Azure

  • Proven and demonstrated knowledge of depth knowledge of cloud-based delivery models

  • Experience developing cybersecurity solutions across a diverse and heterogeneous IT environment

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing security controls, including access control, privileged access management, data security, network security, data loss prevention, Cloud security, vulnerability management, configuration management, privacy, and audits

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience with communicating with other teams via calls, chats, and email

  • Hands-on experience writing effective terraform scripts

  • Hands-on experience with Azure Resource Templates based on best practices

  • Hands-on experience with Azure policies

  • Hands-on experience migrating Apps to the cloud

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related analytical field or equivalent experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in financial services and lending considered a definite asset

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders; i.e. technical architects, business leaders and users

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and identify re-usable components within a solution

  • High ownership, passion and work with sense of urgency

  • Knowledge of security standards (ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, etc.) frameworks (NIST Cybersecurity, etc.) and regulations (particularly in financials)
