DevOps (San Diego)

We are looking for a motivated Infrastructure (DevOps) Engineer to own our back and front-end services and infrastructure components. You will be working closely with our software engineers to ensure frictionless delivery and operation of product functionality.

 

Our team is made up of a small group of engineers who are passionate about creating innovative solutions built with modern technology. As a member of this team, your talent and expertise will influence the best practices, design patterns, and technologies that we use to deliver the best experience for our customers.

 

Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Improve visibility, resiliency, capacity, and performance of our platform
  • Develop our deployable architecture through Terraform on GCP and AWS
  • Build internal tools to increase engineering productivity and grow our devops culture
  • Grow visibility into our platform by designing and integrating monitoring solutions
  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure new features and functionality will be supported by our infrastructure and validate their scalability, reliability, and security requirements
  • Participate in the full SDLC in a fast-paced, dynamic, truly agile workflow
  • Work both independently and in a highly collaborative environment
  • Apply modern open source tools and frameworks where appropriate

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience**

Skills and Experience

  • Strong knowledge of programming languages, especially Java or Python
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems and networking fundamentals
  • Experience maintaining infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Chef or Puppet
  • Experience with monitoring technologies like NewRelic, Grafana, Prometheus or equivalent
  • Understanding of modern web stacks and architecture (REST, load balancing, HTTP(S), authentication)
  • Designing mission critical, scalable, transparent and fault tolerant infrastructure
  • Exceptional problem solving, analysis, decomposition, and communication skills
  • End-to-end debugging, performance tuning, and monitoring

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing and deploying services on Kubernetes with Helm
  • Experience with relational database administration
