The Safety Advisor will be responsible for providing support to the Regional Safety Manager, supporting our customer’s projects. This often includes Principal Contractor and Principal Designer appointments and so a good understanding of the CDM 2015 Regulations is essential. For Principal Contractor appointments, Safety Advisors may be seconded to client sites for extended periods of time (accommodation, travel and subsistence allowance will be provided).

Responsibility (if applicable)

  • To plan, manage, monitor and co-ordinate health and safety as per the requirements of the Principal Contractor role under CDM 2015.

    Responsibilities

  • Delivering best in class project safety management services for our customers.
  • Assisting the Regional Safety Manager in delivering project safety services.
  • On site co-ordination of the PD/PC roles for various projects across the UK.

    This will involve:

    • Attending site meetings as required
    • Chairing weekly contractor health and safety meetings
    • Identifying hazards and managing risk
    • Working with Clients to collate Pre-Construction Information and prepare the Health and Safety File
    • Producing and maintaining Construction Phase Plans
    • Developing method statements and risk assessments
    • Reviewing and approving contractor method statements and risk assessments
    • Managing daily permits to work Proactive monitoring of safety performance on site
    • Carrying out pre-qualification of contractors
    • Implementing, monitoring, and maintaining site safety management systems (e.g., COSHH register, PUWER register, contractor competency register, toolbox talk register)
    • Developing and delivering Toolbox Talks
    • Carrying out incident investigations and producing reports
    • Co-ordinating EHS training Providing CDM 2015 client advisory services
    • Liaising with visiting contractor H&S Managers/Advisers/Consultants
    • Delivery and maintenance of the Malone Group site CDM induction programme
    • Implementing the Malone Group quality, safety and business systems.
    • Weekly reporting to the Regional Safety Manager on project progress, key safety KPIs and customer feedback.
    • Delivery of operational safety management systems and coordination of safety engineering projects with the Malone Group team.

      Desired Knowledge & Experience

      Education:

      Essential:

    • NEBOSH General Certificate/NCRQ Certificate in Applied Health and Safety/C&G NVQ Level 3 (minimum) in Health and Safety
    • NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK) Certificate or valid and in date SMSTS qualification.

      Additional:

    • 3-Day First Aid at Work and Fire Warden training preferable but not essential prior to employment

      Professional experience:

    • 3 – 5 years minimum experience in a similar role within an FMCG environment which includes management of contractors and liaising with Client representatives
    • Experience working with, and good understanding of, the CDM 2015 Regulations.

      Technical skills:

    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
    • The ability to work independently without direct supervision – planning, organising and prioritising own daily work routine to meet deadlines
    • Strong organisation, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels
    • Full clean UK Driver’s license.
