The term ‘sous’ chef, hails from the French word … meaning ‘under’.
The equivalent Italian term would be … ‘sotto capo’ … which means ‘under the head’.
In organized crime groups, such as Sicilian or American crime families … the underboss is one of the key positions within their leadership structure.
The underboss is, without question … the second-in-command!
