Learning and Development Manager

Position Summary:

The Manager of Learning & Development is a creative knowledge leader who will help design, from the ground up, learning and development programs for all levels of employees. Utilizing a dedication to sharing information, the manager develops training events which ensure team members can successfully execute their day-to-day tasks, while also helping them grow their expertise. Adept at infusing traditional workshops with an innovative approach to enable the company to have top talent for present and future needs. Demonstrates superb communication, team building and organization skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and deliver engaging, interactive and fun training programs for all retail groups and their related roles:
    • Establish learning objectives
    • Create work materials
    • Lead interactive workshops
    • Build participant and leader guides
  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness and adjust programs as needed
  • Identify and coordinate interesting and relevant guest speakers
  • Develop other leaders who will serve as additional trainers
  • Stay current with industry trends and add original programs to elevate learning options and support company growth
  • Determine needs for refresher training and design interesting tools to break patterns and push forward new learning
  • Create and implement university program to incentivize and develop employees
  • Coach managers with career development discussions and help them understand options to engage and motivate team members
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to understand organizational growth strategy; create a pro-active approach to training needed to support development planning for future acquisitions and projects
  • Act as a welcoming liaison to on-board and engage new team members
  • Program training courses into Learning Management System, maintain technology and provide access to team members
  • Conduct ongoing needs analysis and tactfully identify opportunities for process improvements supported by actionable plans for implementation
  • Constantly think of new ways to improve all things talent; including, but not limited to, the employee experience, key talent management practices, career development, leadership development, continuous learning, performance management
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of designing, implementing and performing training with measurable results
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written)
  • Adept at navigating challenging people issues and promoting solutions that provide optimal outcomes for all involved
  • Superb presentation skills and a passion for teaching
  • Handles sensitive and confidential information with discretion and grace
  • Motivated and driven with a history of managing time efficiently and setting priorities in order to accomplish great things
  • Hospitality experience
  • Knowledge of retail, restaurant or grocery industry is a plus
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems a plus
