Sr. Systems Engineer

Mobile Integration Workgroup - Redmond, WA

The Senior Systems Engineer will work closely with our hardware, software development, sales customers to drive system/hardware issues to resolution, apply patches and conduct software upgrades, helping provide technical solutions and service to our customers for our hardware and software-based products.

What you will be doing:

  • Accessing software updates, diagnostic utilities, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem and incident resolution.
  • Developing build sheets for systems and knowledge base articles for customers.
  • Performing ongoing activities such as backups, OS and application patching, executing various maintenance scripts, and monitoring of customer systems as needed.
  • Performing hands-on fixes including hardware repair/swap and installing and upgrading software and configuring systems and applications.
  • Automating system deployments.
  • Kernel level debugging.
  • Fielding incoming help requests from customers through a variety of avenues such telephone, email, instant messaging, etc.
  • Performing post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
  • Flexible schedule to apply patches and conduct upgrades after hours.
  • Ability to lift systems of approximately 70lbs.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, up to 25%.


Required technical skills:

  • Good command of Linux shell and scripting. Windows command line skills also helpful but not necessary.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Java applications to review and identify issues in logs (coding not necessary).
  • Experience with platform design at scale in or SaaS environment (hardware choice, drive layout, filesystem etc.)
  • Basic computer build/repair skills: motherboards, hard drives, memory, power supplies, fans, etc.
  • Kernel level debugging skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve product, hardware and performance issues independently
  • Experience automating system deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux systems administration including virtualization
  • Experience working across multiple levels of software, hardware, and networking stacks
  • Experience with supporting systems remotely by connecting to various system types over VPN and via Remote Desktop, SSH, browser, etc.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve product, hardware and performance issues independently
  • Experience with Linux OS (Debian/Centos) patching.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • General system administration skills.


Not required but a plus:

  • Mobile OS experience focusing primarily on iOS and Android phones.
  • Knowledge of Selenium/Appium.
  • ITILv3 certified.
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Github, etc)


  • Bachelors or master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related experience
  • 7 to 10 years relevant industry experience
