Job Summary and Mission

This position contributes to MIW’s success by leading the teams of products, projects and services ranging from basic platform enhancement efforts to complex enterprise product implementations and upgrades. As a senior project manager, you will partner closely with engineering and business stakeholders, collaborating on project planning and execution, and project delivery.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops a deep understanding of projects and products within the program portfolio, manages assigned projects with a clear understanding of business and engineering context, and develops an understanding of cross-program portfolio dependencies.

  • Drives complex, cross-functional enterprise projects, leading multiple efforts simultaneously.

  • Leads high performing, cross-functional, often globally distributed teams.

  • Works independently, with limited day-to-day guidance.

  • Performs core project management duties, including guiding the projects and products through formal approval and funding gates; developing a project plan that includes a detailed budget, project timeline, detailed task-driven schedule, project responsibility assignment matrix and resource plan, and communication plan; and managing project execution from analysis/design through build, test, and deployment.

  • When leading an Agile project, partners closely with the scrum master and product owner on all activities.

  • Ensures that project status reports are relevant, transparent, and add value.

  • Partners with relevant engineering and business hiring managers to ensure that the project has the skillsets and resources required for delivery.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects. PMI-ACP, CSM, or equivalent preferred

  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment

  • A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies including 7+ years of experience as a Project Manager managing large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function teams. PMP preferred

  • Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience in using appropriate tools:

    • Agile Project Management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smart Sheets or equivalent

    • Microsoft Project, Visio, and all Office Tools

  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities.

Acumen and Learning Agility

  • Expert-level knowledge of standards and practices for engineering/software development projects and program lifecycle management activities and deliverables.

  • Clear understanding of project technical activities, including: (1) solution analysis and design; (2) enterprise, solution, and infrastructure architecture; (3) systems integration; (4) data conversion and migration; (5) environment management and build processes; and (6) deployment planning and execution.

Summary of Experience

  • B.S Degree in an engineering discipline, M.S. Degree preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred; PMP certification preferred

  • PgMP, and Scrum Master Certifications

  • 7+ years’ experience as a design engineer

  • 7+ years’ experience as a Project Manager supporting multiple concurrent projects

  • Experience as an Agile Project Manager in a product development and engineering or a software development setting 7+ years’ experience

  • Experience as a Project Manager working in engineering or a software development setting 7+ years’ experience
