Seeking a Surgical Scheduler at a Bariatric Surgery Practice in Catonsville, MD!
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience at date of hire.
Experience in a medical setting, general knowledge of insurance processes at date of hire.
Experience identifying and using ICD-9 and CPT codes at date of hire.
Experience performing a full range of clerical support services that includes medical terminology.
Schedules surgical procedures, appointments, resources, and/or equipment.
Gathers necessary demographic and clinical information and enters into appropriate database. Seeks appropriate resources to resolve issues about the type, date or location of prescribed procedures. May communicate pre-service requirements and instructions.
Schedules patient procedures in a manner that most efficiently utilizes the time and clinical resources. Makes necessary adjustments to the surgical schedule as changes occur to coordinate resources.
Coordinates and communicates schedules.
May assist with the coordination of activities, such as insurance pre-certification/authorization and resource usage and changes
Verifies insurance and obtains required pre-authorization for procedures. May assist with patient billing process, obtains CPT and ICD-9 codes for scheduled procedures checking with physician.
May track lab results and procedures and attach copies of lab reports (pathology, blood, etc.), imaging reports, etc
