Florida Atlantic University (FAU), an all-inclusive state institution located on Florida’s southeastern coast, seeks a Visiting Simulation Coordinator and Instructor to join the accomplished faculty in the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at the Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses. The University is in search of candidates interested in joining a community of scholars that are passionate about nursing and thrive in a creative and caring work environment. The position is anticipated to start in August 2024 for the Fall semester.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Committed to building a culturally diverse educational environment, the College of Nursing is seeking a Visiting Simulation Coordinator and Instructor who can contribute to the diversity and excellence in FAU’s programs and courses through research, teaching, and service. The expected teaching load for this position will be either clinical or didactic and includes supervising students at clinical sites for the College of Nursing’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Research or service will be assigned to this position as needed.

Responsibilities

• Reports to Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing
• Responsible for teaching, service, and related activities
• Responsible for academic advising and related activities
• Pursues goals and initiatives outlined in the 2015–2025 FAU Strategic Plan particularly as they relate to the “Boldness” strategic goal (a uniquely competitive and globalized student body). Learn more about the strategic plan at www.fau.edu/provost/ academic-affairs/strategic-plan
• Teaching responsibilities include organization and delivery of simulation education and may include teaching responsibilities for didactic, clinical, or skills lab courses as needed

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in nursing. A doctorate degree in nursing is preferred
• Eligible to be certified in simulation through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare
• Two-years of full-time teaching experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to interact and establish good interpersonal and collaborative relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and staff
• Commitment to creating an inclusive learning climate for students of diverse backgrounds
• Student-centric and service-minded, with the ability to work collaboratively
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective classroom instruction
• Ability to provide instruction in classroom, hybrid, or distance-learning formats
• Participation in scholarly activities that contribute to nursing and academic disciplines
• Demonstration of clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to physically perform teaching duties in class, lab, and clinical settings
• Excellent personal communication skills and professional conduct
• Excellent computer skills, including use of virtual teaching platforms
