The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, a dynamic public research university, seeks an accomplished nurse educator for a nine-month, full-time nursing faculty position in the Community Nursing Department in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The nursing faculty position is for the Julia and Harold Plotnick Endowed Nursing Professorship in Global Health and Health Equity at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and the start date is flexible

THE OPPORTUNITY

This professorship is responsible for expanding College and University initiatives that foster engagement in global health and address health equity as they impact global and local diverse communities. This faculty member will work with colleagues across the University to expand interdisciplinary educational opportunities and partnerships in global health and health equity. This faculty member will also be expected to provide national and/or global thought leadership in the advancement of global health and health equity; conduct and collaborate in research in global health priority areas including but not limited to, advancing our understanding of global and locally diverse groups who experience health disparities; direct, advise, and mentor students and faculty colleagues who share interests in global health and health equity; and engage in the local community as an advocate for health equity.

The Julia and Harold Plotnick Endowed Nursing Professor in Global Health and Health Equity reports to the Department Chair of the Community Nursing Department.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Earned PhD in Nursing or related field; if related field, MS in Nursing
• Active, or eligible for, unencumbered RN licensure issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registered Nursing
• At least eight years of academic experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching/mentoring; research, and university service consistent with the Associate or Full Professor rank
• Experience working with underserved and diverse populations

Demonstrated expertise in teaching, mentoring and/or research that addresses the experience of underrepresented minorities
• Demonstrated success in developing a funded program of research, including experience as principal investigator on federally funded or other extramural peer-reviewed research projects
• Evidence of national/international leadership in nursing or health-related professional organizations that address global health and equity priorities
• Strong communication, writing, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities
• Native English speaker or level 5 proficiency in written and spoken English (on the Interagency Language Roundtable scale)

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership of multidisciplinary research teams
• Demonstrated impact of research related to global health and health equity
• Leadership in teaching and mentoring at the graduate level, with responsibility for directing research for various level learners
• Eligibility for Full Professor Rank

• Salary will be highly competitive and an appointment with tenure is possible depending on qualifications, experience, and evidence of scholarly accomplishments.
