The University of Texas El Paso (UTEP), a comprehensive public research university that is increasing access to excellent higher education, is seeking a Tenured, Full Professor, Associate Dean of the College of Nursing. The College of Nursing boasts of producing highly skilled health care professionals, with more than 60% of nurses in El Paso being alumni of the college, and its graduates consistently outperforming both local and national averages on the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) for registered nurses. The preferred start date for this appointment is in the fall of 2024.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The University of Texas El Paso seeks an experienced and innovative leader to serve as Associate Dean of the College of Nursing for a contracted term of nine months. This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Nursing and will provide academic leadership in nursing that results in exceptional student learning outcomes, faculty development, and conducts continuous process improvement activities within the undergraduate and graduate programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• A PhD in Nursing from an accredited college or university
• A minimum of eight to nine years of experience in the areas of nursing academic administration and academic nursing education
• Meet the requirements for tenure
• Able to obtain a registered nursing license in the state of Texas

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensures regulatory compliance, programmatic accreditation, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes that meet workplace expectations
• Conducts continuous process improvement activities within the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs
• Develops and monitors accreditation reports
• Fosters an environment of creativity, innovation, responsiveness, and self-responsibility

• Leadership in teaching, research, and community service
• Knowledge and evidence of strong supervisory and management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse community
• Ability to develop a strategic plan
• Knowledge of nursing education program administration and classroom management
• Knowledge of state, federal, and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance, and other regulatory standards such as the Board of Registered Nursing and Advanced Practice Registered Nursing, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and other university related accreditation standards
• Knowledge of compliance requirements and challenges facing academic nursing programs
• Expertise in teaching, clinical practice, and curriculum development within the nursing field
• Knowledge of current developments, trends, and complexities within nursing and the health care industry
• Ability to recruit for and market education programs
